Starting in the bustling Zambian town of Livingstone, this trip offers the family plenty of time for relaxation combined with activities and culture to keep entertained. We start by settling in to the Zambezi Waterfront area where the local booking office can arrange any optional activities such as scenic flights, walks with lions, elephant rides and more.
We visit the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls - a world heritage site, and an absolutely awesome sight to behold. In the late afternoon we board our boat for the scenic sunset river cruise on the Zambezi, where elephants and other game can sometimes be seen on the river banks in the adjacent National Parks. The following day is at leisure to explore the various activities on offer.
From Livingstone our road takes us to Kazangula where 4 countries meet (Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia & Zambia) and across to Botswana where our next adventure awaits us. The Chobe National Park is well known for the large herds of elephant that make this park their home. Watch the breeding herds as they come down to the river's edge to drink, or the bulls as they swim across the channel to graze on the sweet grasses on Sidudu Island. A game drive in the park affords the opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife including giraffe, buffalo, kudu & other antelope, and of course the predators in the area.
Next it's off along the Caprivi Strip that is neatly sandwiched between Botswana and Zambia and leads us to the Kavango River - the source of the Okavango Delta. The next 3 nights are spent at the beautiful Ngepi Camp - voted Namibia's best camp 2006. We spend a day exploring the river and surrounding Bwabwata National Park where we travel via traditional mokoro (dug out canoe), and on our return we take a game drive and may spot plenty of local wildlife and a host of birdlife. There is also plenty to do from the campsite including traditional dancing & drumming, sundowner boat cruises, fishing, village walks and guided walks.
The campsite is beautifully laid out with scenic views over the river and passing game can be seen right from here. There is also a swimming 'pool' and the adventure Frisbee golf course to entertain the young at heart.
After our days of relaxation we head back across the Caprivi Strip and across Kazangula back to Livingstone where we spend our last night together. After breakfast the next morning, we say our goodbyes and head back home.
