Chobe & Northern Delta Family Safari

SAFARI HIGHLIGHTS:
Livingstone is the lively town on the Zambian side of the mighty Victoria Falls which we explore in the Mosi-oa-Tunya (‘smoke that thunders’) National Park. It’s also the destination for a number of exciting optional adventure activities on and around the Zambezi such as walking with lions, bungee jumping and elephant riding. From here we head into Botswana and explore Chobe National Park by boat and game drive and the Chobe River is the perfect vantage point to watch large herds of elephant. We access the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta from Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, where we explore the watery lagoons and tranquil palm-fringed islands by mokoro (dug-out canoe).

Duration: 9 Days / 8 Nights.
Accommodation: Camping.
Group Size: Minimum 4, Maximum 16

Day 1: Livingstone
» Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders) is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and it's not difficult to see why.
» At 1700 m wide and around 100 m high, this is the world's largest sheet of falling water and a memorable sight on any African Safari!
» The Falls can be viewed from the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Zambia and the Victoria Falls National Park, Zimbabwe. Each offer fantastic photo opportunities.
» The day is spent participating in a myriad of Optional Excursions. Tonight we enjoy a sunset dinner cruise on the mighty Zambezi.

Day 2: Livingstone
» Today we have another opportunity to participate in some of the activities we couldn't fit in yesterday.
» Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3: Livingstone to Chobe National Park (Botswana)
» After breakfast we cross the border into Botswana and head to Kasane where we set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River.
» The Chobe River forms a border between Botswana and Namibia and Zambia.
» Listen out for the resident hippos!
» Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Chobe National Park
» This morning starts with an early morning game drive into Chobe National Park.
» Chobe is one of Botswana's premier game parks, renowned its large elephant herds.
» After our game drive we return to camp for lunch.
» The late afternoon sees us take a boat cruise along the Chobe River.
» Elephant, hippo and many bird species including the regal African Fish Eagle and Pied Kingfisher can be viewed from the boat while we watch another glorious African sunset.

Day 5: Chobe National Park to Ngepi Camp (Namibia)
» Today we travel into Namibia's Caprivi Strip to our lovely camp site on Kavango River at the start of the Okavango Delta.
» The Okavango Delta is a huge expanse of water that has travelled from the Kavango River from the Angolan highlands, and fans out onto the upper Kalahari region to form the largest inland Delta in the World.
» Studded with exotic islands, the Delta is renowned for its incredible variety of bird life as well as many other animals unique to Southern Africa.
» Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Ngepi Camp
» Today we take a mokoro (traditional dug out canoe) trip down the river.
» fter lunch, we head to the Bwabwata National Park, where we hope to encounter elephant, buffalo, lion and the rare wild dog.
» We also have the opportunity to learn about the local Tswana culture.
» Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7: Ngepi Camp
» Today we spend enjoying some of the activities on offer from the camp.
» Try your hand at the camp's own 'Frisbee Golf Course' or simply spend the day relaxing on the river bank.
» Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8: Ngepi Camp to Livingstone
» Today we retrace our steps, crossing the Caprivi Strip and travelling through the Chobe area before reaching our camp back to Livingstone.
» We spend our last evening enjoying the magnificent sunset over the mighty Zambezi.
» Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9: Livingstone
» After breakfast, we exchange addresses and part ways, having just experienced a trip of a lifetime!
» Breakfast

Included in this safari;
- Itinerary as specified, fully equipped safari vehicle, services of trip leader and driver, all accommodation as specified, all catering & camping equipment and scheduled National Park entrance fees. Meals where specified. Meals not shown will be to the clients account. Occasionally breakfast and lunch may be combined into a brunch where necessary e.g. mornings with early game drives.

Excluded from this safari;
- International airfares, arrival and departure transfers, travel and medical insurance, personal spending money, visas, passports, vaccinations, personal taxes (including departure and border taxes) all optional activities, unscheduled or optional National Parks / Reserves entrance fees, gratuities, restaurant meals and all other items of a personal nature. All drinks, even on days with full board basis.
