Namib Desert EscapeSAFARI HIGHLIGHTS:Etosha National Park is home to a large variety of animals and birdlife that can easily be spotted on game drives and at the waterholes that are scattered throughout the park. The Cheetah Park offers the rare opportunity to interact with tame cheetah and learn more about these endangered wild cats. The lively coastal town of Swakopmund is well know as the adventure capital of Namibia with activities to entertain both the adrenalin seeker and those that prefer to spend their time at leisure. Lastly enjoy the breathtaking vistas of the Namib Desert and explore some of the highest sand dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. Family trips trips where we welcome all travellers and children aged 6-17 years travelling with their parents on tour. Please note children will be occupying a seat on the Overland Truck, therefore they pay full price. The Namibian Dollar is 1 to 1 with the South African RandSafari rates are in Namibian Dollars *Rates may vary according to season CONTACT US FOR A FREE QUOTATION Flights (return); UK - NAM; from £ 800 USA - NAM; from $ 1700 EUR - NAM; from € 1100 Subject to availability & T&C's Currency Converter Day 1: Windhoek to Etosha National Park » Leaving Namibia's capital city, we head north towards Etosha National Park. » Covering 20 000 km2, Etosha is Namibia's premier nature reserve. » Situated around the Etosha Pan with a wide variety of animal and bird life, the extensive network of gravel roads affords us the opportunity of accessing even the most remote areas of the park. » We set up our camp and relax before a late afternoon game drive. » Lunch and dinner Day 2: Etosha National Park » Today we spend the whole day looking for the Big 5, also keeping a look out for Etosha's large herds of desert antelope such as Springbok and the famed Oryx. » We spend the evening relaxing at our camp, which overlooks a floodlit water hole and we watch the antics of the animals as they come to quench their thirst. » Breakfast, lunch and dinner Day 3: Etosha National Park to Cheetah Park » An early start sees us leave Etosha with one last chance to spot some of the game that has eluded us. » We stop in the small town of Outjo, where we replenish our supplies before heading to the Cheetah Park - a private farm dedicated to conserving Namibia's cheetah population. » We get to meet the resident cheetahs, a photo opportunity not to be missed! » Breakfast, lunch and dinner Day 4: Cheetah Park to Swakopmund » Today sees us reach Namibia's prime holiday resort - Swakopmund. » Here we enjoy 2 nights of rest and relaxation. » Breakfast and lunch Day 5: Swakopmund » Founded by the Germans in 1892, their colonial influence is still evident today. » Swakopmund has a selection of excellent coffee shops, restaurants & bars as well as many arts and crafts shops selling Namibian curios. » There are fine beaches to walk along as well as a great museum, aquarium and galleries to visit. » OPTIONAL Excursions include sky diving, quad biking, sand boarding, scenic desert flights, water sports, fishing trips, golf and 4WD hire. » No meals Day 6: Swakopmund to Sesriem » Heading south we enter the Namib-Naukluft Park in one of the oldest deserts in the world. » We base ourselves at Sesriem, a great place to experience the Namib and its many moods. » A short distance away is Sossusvlei, surrounded by a dramatic sea of sand dunes reputed to be the highest in the world. » Magnificent views of the desert can be seen from the top of the dunes, some over 300 m high. » We spend the afternoon exploring this amazing area and have the option of learning about the amazing history, geology, flora and fauna it with a local guide. » We're also given a glimpse into the cultural legacy of the San people. » View the sunset from the top of Dune 45 - a truly memorable experience. » Breakfast, lunch and dinner Day 7: Sesriem to Windhoek » After watching the sunrise across this beautiful area we leave the serenity of the dunes and head north to Windhoek, where we'll spend our last night. » This evening is at our leisure. » Breakfast and lunch Day 8: Windhoek » After breakfast, we exchange addresses and part ways, having just experienced a trip of a lifetime! » We suggest you spend this day taking in some more of what Windhoek has to offer. » Visit the museum of Alte Feste, the home of the first German military headquarters, the Reiterdenkmal, a memorial to German soldiers killed in action and the Christus Kirche, an impressive church built by the German Lutheran congregation in 1907. » Breakfast Included in this safari; - Seat on fully equipped expedition truck/vehicle - All cooking and camping equipment (except sleeping bag and mat) - Meals as per itinerary - Parks fees and excursions as per the itinerary - Services of trip leader, driver and safari cook (unless otherwise stated) Excluded from this safari; - Sleeping bag (can be hired) - Personal travel insurance - Alcoholic beverages - Soft drinks - Flights, airport taxes and visa costs - Booking Conditions |
