The lodge is nestled among groves of coconut trees, all rooms have exquisite beach and sea views. The warm Indian Ocean offers safe bathing all year round. The wide open, clean beaches offer endless hours of strolling pleasure. ROOM & SUITE TYPES: The traditional Casitas are made of thatch, brick and reeds creating a charming atmosphere. Some have sea views and all are a stone's throw from the beach. Barra has 20 family casita's. All casita's have 1 double bed and 2 single beds as well as en-suite shower, toilet, handbasin. All bedding and mosquito nets are supplied and rooms are serviced daily. Tea & coffee is also available in the rooms. FOOD & WINE: While you relax to the sight and sound of the ocean, indulge your taste buds at our restaurant. Fresh seafood dominates the menu with prawns, calamari and fresh line fish remaining the ever-popular favourites. Enjoy your meal indoors or outdoors on the patio overlooking the pool. FACILITIES: Barra Lodge caters for families with children and is geared towards fun and activities for the whole family there is also a swimming pool and jacuzzi and bar on offer. ACTIVITIES: There is a fully equipped PADI dive centre with all the necessary facilities including kitting-up rooms, filling station, rest areas, kit storage, lecture and first-aid areas. Please enquire for further details. Ocean Safaris are also offered for diver and non-divers wishing to experience all the creatures like Whalesharks and Dolphins on the surface. There is also a luxury 33 foot liveaboard catamaran offers unforgettable day trips in our secluded estuary. Trips to Pansy Island are offered as well as snorkeling trips. Take a trip on a dhow and feel a great sense of history as the dhows are still built as they were in ancient times. This is something that must be experienced before this age old tradition dies out. Inhambane City is steeped in history. This was the southerly most trading port in Africa used by the Arabs. Vasco Da Gama landed here in 1534. The cathedrals, old colonial Portugese architecture, African culture and local markets make this a fascinating town to browse around. A number of restaurants in and around Inhambane offer a variety of meal options. |
