Summer (December to February);
The weather conditions in Mauritius for the summer period can be best termed hot, humid and additionally rainy. You will find that on nearly all days the morning hours will begin bright and sunny, however from +- 14:00 onwards, thunderstorms will quickly form. Thunderstorms generate very heavy rainfall that could last approximately an hour or so. Having said that, if you are on the west coast of Mauritius, the rainfall will not last as long as it does in other parts of Mauritius.
Winter (June, July and August);
Mauritius is situated within the South East trade wind belt and because of this both the Southern and Eastern sides of the Island can get somewhat gusty South Easterly winds during the winter months (the windiest months take place in late July to early August). To ensure that you avoid these winds, it is advisable to head off towards the North Western and Western areas of Mauritius given that the mountains obstruct the winds from arriving in this area to a large degree.
What to wear;
For anyone going to a restaurant for dinner the dress code is simply smart casual; guys are required to wear long trousers (no shorts) and ladies, skirts and / or smart looking pants (no bikini tops). Outside of a restaurant feel free to wear whatever allows you to be comfortable. Beneath is a handful of suggestions that ought to help when packing:

If you are planning to visit Mauritius in the summertime then pack exclusively summer garments, ideally light, loose fitting fabric made out of cotton. Denim jeans will cling to your legs with all the humidity not to mention that they will make you feel way too hot, but this is entirely up to you.
Swim wear is of course what everyone needs to pack and please do not forget the sun cream. In a nutshell; light clothing, swimming costumes, a hat of sorts and bucket loads of sun cream!
During the winter (June, July and August);
During the winter months, pack some warmer clothing with you for going out at night (a comfortable pair of jeans and a loose fitting top). During the day wear summer type clothing, swim wear and of course sun cream.
