Kenya Heritage Safari
SAFARI HIGHLIGHTS:
Travelling great distances by plane allows visitors to enjoy more time viewing wildlife once on the ground. This is an extremely comfortable fly-in safari which covers three of the main wilderness areas in Kenya. Activities will include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, some gentle walking and a boat trip in the Great Rift Valley

DAY 1: NAIROBI
» Transfer to the Intercontinental Hotel
» Bed and English breakfast

DAY 2: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
» Morning flight from Nairobi to Samburu, lunch and afternoon game drive
» Samburu National Reserve is located north of Nairobi, and was established in the 1970's
» The reserve is adjacent to the Buffalo Springs National Reserve, and is 40 square miles in size
» All meals

DAY 3: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
» Morning and afternoon game drives
» There is a wide variety of animal and bird life seen at Samburu National Reserve
» Animals commonly seen are elephants, lions, cheetahs, grevy's zebras, giraffes, gerenuks, buffalos, Oryx, grants gazelles, dikdiks and waterbucks
» There are over 350 varieties of birds, these include the famous Somali Ostriches (distinguished by their unique purple/blue legs during mating season), kingfishers, humming birds, eagles, guinea fowls and vultures

DAY 4: LAKE NAIVASHA
» Early morning game drive and lunch
» Fly (via Nairobi) to Naivasha, Afternoon boat trip
» The highest of the Rift Valley lakes, Naivasha's incredibly blue waters reflect off sun-drenched mountains
» A freshwater lake, Naivasha (meaning 'rough water') is home to an incredible variety of bird species and there is a full effort to protect the wildlife although the lake suffered a lot in the past by tourism activities

DAY 5: LAKE NAIVASHA
» Half-day safari in Lake Nakuru National Park
» Lake Naivasha is an unusual lake in that it has no known outlet (normally a prerequisite for a freshwater lake), it is the second largest freshwater lake in Kenya
» The swirling inland winds which send 'dust devils' cavorting wildly across the plains make for ideal sailing on the lake which is set at the foot of Mount Longonot (2 776m), on the north side

DAY 6: MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
» Morning at leisure, lunch and then fly to the Masai Mara
» Afternoon game drive
» Masai Mara is Kenya's most famous and most visited game reserve
» Open savannahs, rolling grasslands and undulating hills sets the scene for the splendour of the Mara
» All meals

DAY 7: MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
» Morning and afternoon game drives
» July to September sees the annual migration of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles from the plains of the Serengeti
» Driven by dry conditions in the Serengeti and led by the lightning and thunder to the north, huge herds of mammals cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach the Masai Mara Game Reserve's grasslands

DAY 8: END OF SAFARI
» Morning game drive
» After lunch, fly back to Nairobi and transfer for your onward arrangements
