Border Crossing Camping Safari
SAFARI HIGHLIGHTS:
The safari is well suited for the traveller that has more time to discover the immense variety of East Africa. You will get the chance to see the most impressive landscapes and wildlife at a affordable price. The safari includes all the highlights of northern Tanzania, Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and the wide-open plains of the Serengeti where, depending on the season, over a 1.7 million wildebeest and zebras will pass during the big migration. Furthermore, you will visit Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa. Not far from the lake and across to Kenya, you will visit the Masai Mara. The safari ends in Nairobi and after your arrival you can return home or continue your stay by enjoying the beautiful Kenyan beaches or take a flight from Nairobi to Zanzibar to spend a few days on the Spice Island.

Day 1: Tarangire National Park
» After a tour briefing, we travel southwest towards Tarangire National Park.
» The park has diverse landscapes and a large variety of wildlife, often considered as one of the most attractive parks in northern Tanzania, it has one of the largest elephant populations.
» We spend the game viewing before heading to our camp site.
» Lunch; Dinner
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
» After breakfast, we leave Tarangire National Park and head in the direction of the Great Rift Valley.
» The lowlands break up and make way for the vegetation rich crater highlands.
» We enjoy the wonderful view of the Masai Plains and Lake Manyara.
» We reach our stop for the night, the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater.
» The caldera is an incredible 18 km in diameter and walls as high as 600m. Prof. Grzimek described it as the 8th wonder of the world
» The Ngorongoro Crater has often been labelled as a "Garden of Eden" as it has one of the highest mamal populations on earth.
» We overnight at the Simba campsite which is situated directly on the crater's edge and offers fantastic views.

Day 3: Serengeti
» We have a early breakfast before travelling down the seemingly hanging walls into the crater below.
» Here, within a fewer square kilometres, you can find.
» The crater is the best place to capture the magnificent, endangered black rhinoceros on camera.
» We depart Ngorongoro in the afternoon and travel into the endless plains of the Serengeti.
» We overnight at a campsite in the Serengeti.

Day 4: Serengeti
» At sunrise, we start the day with a game drive and return back to camp for a brunch.
» A optional trip to the Serengeti Visitor Centre is worthwhile and a representative of the Frankfurt Zoological Society will meet us and take us on a guided tour (needs to be booked in advanced).
» In the afternoon, we depart on a game drive and return back to our camp for dinner.

Day 5: Lake Victoria
» After an early start, we travel further through the Serengeti National Park towards Lake Victoria.
» We game drive en-route. After leaving the park, the safari travels on to Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa and the second largest in the world.
» The area around Lake Victoria is the most fertile and densely populated region in Tanzania.
» Stopping at the lake, you will have the chance to see another side of Tanzania; away from the tourists and the masses, you can discover the land and the lives of the local people.
» We camp at a local campsite.
» Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner
Day 6: Masai Mara National Park
» The journey to the Masai Mara requires an early start.
» What appears to be a short distance on the map is in reality a few hours driving.
» The "Mara" has the highest lion population of all reserves in Africa.
» Sightings are not dependent upon the seasons or the great migration, as the Masai Mara has plenty of wildlife all year round.

Day 7: Masai Mara
» Today, you will have the chance to enjoy a full day of game viewing with your skilful guide.
» You will take a trip to the Mara River, the greatest hurdle for the wildebeests and zebras on their yearly trek.
» At the end of October and the beginning of November, an unbelievable scene is set; the river is swollen almost to the bursting point due to the rains and ten thousand animals must cross it.
» The wildebeests and zebras know that they need to cross the river.
» You will stay another night at a campsite (generally in September and October and depending upon the location of the great migration, you will stay three days in the Masai Mara and one day in the Serengeti).
» Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner
Day 8: Nairobi Safari Ends
» During the morning and after breakfast, we will have further time for game viewing before leaving the Masai Mara.
» We depart the Masai Mara and journey bank towards the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi.
