The Sanctuary provides a safe environment to over 50 species of mammals and 300 species of birds within 28,000 acres of rolling savanna and woodland habitats. Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge provides the rare experience of proximity to the wildlife and a viewing gallery from the comfort of your room balcony . Since the lodge is unfenced, animals such as gazelles and elephants are commonly sighted on the grounds and at the watering hole near the swimming pool. ROOM & SUITE TYPES: Rooms at the Lodge are with double, twin or triple beds depending on room type. All rooms have a private viewing balcony commanding views of the adjacent Taita Hills or the well maintained gardens and surrounding Sanctuary. The elegantly furnished rooms are spacious with a sitting area and well appointed bathrooms. FOOD & WINE: The Main restaurant serving buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with live cooking counters preparing specialty dishes. Cuisine includes Pan-African, Pan-European and Pan-Asian. The Salad buffet has a wide variety of salads using the fresh ingredients and herbs from the Lodge's own vegetable and herb garden. The Dessert buffet has a selection of mouthwatering desserts. Vegetarian dishes are always available, and guests with any special dietary requirements are also catered for. FACILITIES: In addition to the rooms and suites, the Lodge has a Main Restaurant, Bar & Lounge and many bush dining options. The free form swimming pool has its own pool bar. The Lodge has its own fleet of well equipped safari vehicles with excellent guides. There are meeting rooms and numerous outdoor venues for dining and leisure. There is a gift shop, fuel station and business center. ACTIVITIES: Early morning and late afternoon game drives provide an ideal opportunity to view and photograph the diverse array of wildlife within the Sanctuary. During the drives guests also visit our sister property within the Sanctuary, Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge, where large numbers of wildlife come to drink at the adjacent waterholes - these provide a wonderful opportunity to view animals at close proximity in their natural habitat. Take a nature walk with a qualified ranger guide, where the emphasis is on the natural environment you encounter as you walk leisurely through the bush. Marvel at the wildlife normally unnoticed during a game drive but evident on foot, yet still important through their impact on the ecology of this diverse ecosystem. Visit a local and authentic village where you can learn about local cultures, spend a day at Mzima Springs in Tsavo West National Park, famous for its thriving populations of hippos and crocodiles, or visit Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary or Lake Jipe, both also in Tsavo West. Alternatively, spend the day in Tsavo East National Park, where you can visit popular sites such as Aruba Dam and Lugards Falls, or make an excursion to the nearby Taita Hills, with spectacular views, indigenous forests and rural markets. The region to the west of the Sanctuary is also rich in World War I history, while a crater lake near the Tanzanian border is a mere 60km away. |
