The small size funnels many animal species into this tight space, providing guests the opportunity to venture into plains covered with hundereds or even thousands of animals. These vast grasslands are rich with herds of zebra, giraffe, gazelle, and topi. The Acacia forests aboutnd with birdlife and monkeys. Elephants and buffalo wallow in the wide Musiara swamp. The Mara and Talek rivers are brimming with hippos and crocodiles. Defining a wilderness tented camp, Kensington Mara is an elegant tree-lined camp nestled in a bend of the Talek river on the boundary of the Mara Reserve, 12km north west of the Sekenani gate. If arriving by air, you land at the Keekorok airstrip just a half hour game drive away from the camp. ROOM & SUITE TYPES: Each of the camp's eight Suswa tents are carefully spread along the riverbank in this pristine 80 acre reserve. Isolated and private, yet situated in the midst of a teeming corner of the legendary Mara park, guests will savor this close connection with nature. FOOD & WINE: Enjoy delicious Pan-African and traditional bush cuisine. Three main meals are served each day in a large canvas dining tent overlooking beautiful scenery and culminating with five course dinners ending with coffee or tea under the stars. Weather permitting, meals can be individually served in your own veranda. Picnic meals can also be prepared for full day game drives. The chefs will gladly observe any special dietary preferences. ACTIVITIES: A veteran staff carefully looks after guests in this boutique camp. Sharing a connection with the local Masai, guests can hike with warriors, visit the local village and dance along with traditional songs. |
