Formerly a private Presidential retreat, Chichele Presidential Lodge (pronounce to rhyme with belly) occupies one of the most breathtaking sites in the entire park.

Since the original structures, built circa 1960, became very dilapidated, Star of Africa has undertaken a complete transformation of the building to create a spectacular new 'turn of the century' safari lodge, designed to complement its natural surroundings.

In order to exploit the wonderful floodplain vistas offered by the site, 10 air conditioned, elegant Victorian style lodges are built along the edge of the hillside, each giving guests a private panoramic view.

FOOD & WINE:

Meal times at Chichele are at the usually accepted times but can be dependent on game drives and will vary seasonally. All meals are table d'hôte with a wide selection of dishes. Meal venues are varied from the luxurious in-door dining room to the scenic verandahs and boma area outside.

FACILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

. Full range of game drives in the South Luangwa National Park using open 4 x 4 vehicles. Each vehicle is driven by a qualified, knowledgeable guide.
. Wildlife to be seen includes Elephant, Lion, Wild Dog, Buffalo and a wide variety of antelope in addition other endemic species such as Thornicroft Giraffe and Cooksons Wildebeest. This is an excellent area for Leopards.
. Night drives using spotlights enable guests to see such nocturnal animals as leopard, night ape and spotted hyena.
. Game walks conducted by a professional guide and an armed national parks scout.

» Ground airport transfers to and from Mfuwe International Airport, 3 meals a day, 2 inclusive activities per day, Park entry fees, Soft drinks, house wines, local beers and spirits, Laundry service, Service charge

» EXCLUDE: Visas which may be required, Imported wines and spirits, Chartered Flights

» Children from 6 years and older are welcome, children under 6 years can only be accepted through prior arrangement with management
