| Jan Harmsgat Country House is an exclusive country bed and breakfast guest house situated on a historic farm established in 1723 in the Klein Karoo, situated between the towns of Swellendam on the N2 and Ashton on the R62. The Jan Harmsgat Country House has seen a renaissance that captures its rich past, in a way that fits in with the discerning traveler's needs: Space, charm and an unsurpassed opportunity to indulge in an authentic country ambience and history. Guests are treated to understated elegance and comfort, combining the power of its original 1-metre thick walls, yellowwood details and authentic "Overberg" style. Every modern convenience is offered. ROOM AND SUITE TYPES: – Room 1: Downstairs with wooden beamed ceilings, double bed and large hot shower. Orchard view, south facing. – Room 2: Downstairs with twin beds, large room with mountain view and separate bathroom en-suite – Room 3: Upstairs under thatch, Orchard view, South facing. Air-conditioned, with Victorian bath in the main bedroom. Toilet en-suite. – Room 4: Upstairs, mountain facing. Mountain facing and air-conditioned, with Victorian bath in main bedroom. Toilet en-suite. – The Cottage is ideal for couples with young children, or groups of 4, who would enjoy being completely private. The cottage has two double rooms and shares a single bathroom. Separate kitchen available for self-catering. FOOD & WINE: The Jan Harmsgat provides a Four-course dinner on request. Reservations are to be made in advance and dietary preferences will be catered for on prior notice.
