Owned by Ant & Tessa Baber, in total exclusivity they treat you to the best of the Waterberg. Nestled in the arms of a natural ampi-theatre, ensureing you a secluded and private game viewing experience. Ant & Tessa's exclusive and private bush home (Ants Nest) is an ideal place to escape to, where one can lose oneself in the African bush and enjoy hospitality that knows no bounds. Ant's Hill is home to a wide and diverse variety of wildlife, flora and fauna. All of which can be explored in a variety of ways - horseback, 4x4, guided walks. Not only do we enjoy sharing our home with you, but we also delight in taking our guests to visit other interesting places in the Waterberg. The main lodge boasts a vast living area and dining room, both with fireplaces. A spacious verandah and deck overhang the gorge so are ideal for early morning breakfasts and evening sundowners. To top it all Ant's Hill overlooks a waterhole frequently visited by a variety of game. ROOM & SUITE TYPES: With spacious rooms and vast folding doors, the thatched lodge blends into the bush, while exotic furniture and brightly coloured African fabrics make it both sophisticated and comfortable. The draped four-poster beds are seven foot wide and each bathroom is spectacular, offering guests sunken baths and waterfall showers. Set in boulders on the edge of the cliff, the heated swimming pool cascades over the lip of the gorge, inducing you to relax there for hours. Ant's Hill caters for a maximum of 12 guests and can be booked non-exclusively or exclusively to one party. The rooms consist of two privately appointed honeymoon cottages, one family cottage with a master bedroom and 2 twin rooms and, lastly, a twin room situated above the main lodge with a private verandah overlooking the spectacular gorge. FOOD & WINE: Great pride is taken in the sumptuous home cooking. Dinners can be enjoyed outside whenever possible under shady trees. Morning game activities are usually ended with a bush lunch, whilst at night sit around open fires under the stars. Excellent South African estate wines are served. FACILITIES/ACTIVITIES: Horse Riding; Both Ant's Nest and Ant's Hill offer the opportunity for some of the greatest game viewing in the African bush - from horseback. You can canter along open sandy tracks or traverse high ridges with spectacular vistas. The pace can be as fast or relaxed as the riders would like. Often we can get so close to the game that the experience remains unforgettable. Game Drives; Guides will be available to take you out in an open 4x4 Land Cruiser either for morning or afternoon game drives or using a spotlight at night to find elusive nocturnal animals, such as the rare brown hyena, aardvark bushbaby and porcupine. Guided Walks; For those who prefer walking, our guides will lead you through the bushveld on foot. These walks are informative and interactive, enabling you to gain knowledge of African flora and fauna. |
