Babanango Valley Lodge
'Situated in the babanango game reserve, Valley Lodge, a small luxury upmarket Lodge providing high levels of service and hospitality' |
|
Babanango Valley Lodge, situated in the Natal Battlefields and within the Babanango Game Reserve. Valley Lodge, a small luxury upmarket Lodge providing high levels of service and hospitality while retaining the charm that one would expect of a small gracious country Lodge.
Set in a beautiful indigenous garden, which attracts birds, it has a swimming pool and magnificent views down the valley.
Babanango Valley Lodge has been described as one of the most beautiful valleys in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Its outstanding scenic beauty is emphasised by well-vegetated granite koppies, quartzite ridges and sandstone cliffs.
Because of this and the occurrence of the rare Aloe gerstnerii, a number of red data book birds and animals and the existence of stone-age sites, it was declared a Natural Heritage Site (no. 30) in 1986. Only about 300 sites have been recognised countrywide in the 25 years that the program has run.
ROOM & SUITE TYPES:
There are nine bedrooms, each individually decorated in classical country style with yellowwood and antique oak furniture. The family room is secluded, with its own patio, and able to accommodate up to four beds. The rooms have scenic views down the valley and contain all those little extras to make your stay comfortable.
FOOD & WINE:
Breakfast is a hearty affair with lunch an optional extra.
FACILITIES:
Guests may relax around the sparkling pool, with its stunning view or participate in the many possible activities on offer from the Lodge. The cozy lounge, with it's crackling log fire in winter is the gathering point for a pre-dinner drinks.
ACTIVITIES:
Enjoy the space and beauty of the magnificent Babanango Valley Private Nature Reserve, take a guided walk or simply meander along the 30 km of self-guided walking trails, birdwatching and wandering among the Zebra and Impala.
Historical Zulu battlefield sites at Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana and other battlefields of the Anglo-Zulu war, the Zulu country and the Hluhluwe Game Reserve are all part of the fascinating history of this country. With access to the 8000 acre Private Nature Reserve and its 30 km of walking trails, to guided Historical Zulu Cultural and Wildlife tours, this makes an ideal holiday destination for budget conscious travellers.
