Eight Bells Mountain Inn, situated in South Africa's picturesque Garden Route, nestles in the Ruiterbos Valley Region at the foot of the Robinson Pass on the R328 between Mossel Bay (35kms away) and Oudtshoorn (50kms away). Innkeepers Peter and Jean Brown, have created a charming Inn renowned for its friendly hospitality and superb recreational facilities amidst magnificent mountain scenery. The redecorating and upgrading of accommodation at Eight Bells is well underway and consists of 4 categories of delightfully furnished en suite bedrooms, thatched rondavels and timber/ log cabins, set in enchanting gardens shared by an abundance of birdlife.
SWISS VILLAGE: - Alpine timber/ log cabins with the best mountain views and privacy, decorated In a subtle "Out of Africa" scheme. Only adults are accommodated in the cabins. Each cabin has it's own sundeck, under floor heating and an air-conditioning unit.
SUITE: - The new addition to our accommodation! A beautifully decorated Alpine timber/ log cabin consisting of two bedrooms - 1 queen and I twin bedded - a bathroom with a shower above the bath and an elegantly furnished lounge. Both bedrooms and the lounge have an air-conditioning unit and under floor heating. A large sundeck extends across the front of the cabin commanding a picturesque view out over the mountains, Children under 10 years of age are not accommodated in the suite.
PALM COURT: - Bedrooms situated in a courtyard-style thatched wing with a pretty garden. Each bedroom leads out onto it's own enclosed patio and 4 of the bedrooms have their own external patio. These bedrooms, decorated in a Kashmir scheme of burgundy, navy and cream shades, are the most spacious of our room complement. The family suite and king bedded room have under floor heating.
POOL TERRACE: - A thatched wing consisting of family suites and rondavels nestled near the bell-shaped swimming pool. Beautifully decorated in a scheme of jade and olive damask and fresh sunny fabrics. Two of the rondavels are ideal for honeymooners and one has under floor heating.
ROSE COURT: - A wing of north-facing bedrooms and 2 thatched rondavels enhanced by a quaint garden setting without a mountain view. Rooms are decorated in soft olive green damask, daisy and Mirabelle fabrics; and the 2 rondavels in an East African theme. Both the rooms and rondavels have under floor heating.
The main building houses the reception office, an elegant lounge, Bosun's Whistle Pub, The Oak Room Restaurant, billiard and darts room, children's lounge, enclosed sun room and exterior patio area.
Protea and fynbos are a feature during the months of autumn, winter and early spring, and the abundant birdlife is a treat for birdwatchers. Books on birds and flowers are kept at reception for guest's reference.
Breakfast, consisting of a buffet and a cooked English breakfast, is served in The Oak Room Restaurant. Mid-morning and high tea served on the house for guests at 11:00 and 16:00 respectively. Beverages, teatime treats, light snacks and a mini-a'la carte menu are available to guests throughout the day and is served in the gardens, at the pool or on our enclosed Patio. Room Service is available between the hours of 07:00 and 21:00.
Dinner in the The Oak Room Restaurant offers guests a choice of either an a'la carte or table d'hote menu. Our winelist has a superb selection of 80 of South Africa's finest wines, with a carefully researched description of each wine. |
