| Kariega River Lodge, built on the banks of the Bushmans River and situated in the Kariega Game Reserve, is a 5-Star quality Lodge which offers exclusivity, comfort and spectacular views of the Bushmans River Valley. The Game Reserve comprises of nearly 6000 hectares of pristine wilderness that spans across 5 unique eco-systems, which is home to more than 25 species of game including Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, White Rhino, Hyena, Hippo and Giraffe, as well as 280 species of birds. Kariega prides itself in the abundance of general game and bird life supplementing the "Big-5". A unique feature is the ability to walk freely and safely amongst the game in an area of the reserve which excludes the dangerous "Big-5" animals. Children older than 10 years are welcome. Kariega River Lodge is in a Malaria-free area and offers many activities and local attractions. It is one of a kind and is ideal for Foreign Independent Tours and small groups looking for that 5-Star safari experience. KARIEGA RIVER LODGE ROOM & SUITE TYPES: River Lodge accommodates 20 guests in 10 superbly appointed thatched suites. All suites are have en-suite bathrooms with spacious showers and ornate baths. The suites are air-conditioned with ceiling fans and mini bars. Satellite TV is available at the main Lodge. FACILITIES/ACTIVITIES: – Morning and late afternoon game drives in open vehicles with experienced game rangers – River cruises available on both the Bushmans and Kariega rivers – Safe hiking close to abundant game and bird life on the eastern section of the game reserve – Canoeing and mountain biking – Swimming in beautiful river pools surrounded by sub-tropical forest – Visits to the nearby beaches of Kenton-on-Sea for bathing or a stroll |
