Drostdy Hotel - Built in 1806 and designed by famous French architect Louis Thibault as the "Drostdy" of the district. "Drostdy" is the Dutch word for magistrates court.

Restored to it's former splendour by De Oude Meester group in 1977, it plays host to many of the groups priceless antiques and paintings.

Drostdy Hotel is one of 220 national monuments in the oldest town in the Eastern Cape and the fourth oldest in South Africa. The yellowwood floors, Persian carpet, antique table and grandiose fresh flower arrangement gives you an idea what lies ahead.

The imposing slave bell reminds of a time when the cottages were emancipated slave quarters.
