Lüderitz was founded in 1883 by the German merchant Adolf Lüderitz. In 1884 the German empire took over and laid the foundation stone for the colony of German South West Africa. Nostalgic Luderitz presents itself today as a very colourful town, due to the lovingly maintained historical buildings.
Sea-View Zum Sperrgebiet Hotel, built in 1996 the hotel is situated in a quiet residential part of the town overlooking the bay and harbour of Luderitz. The house received numerous Namibian and international awards.
