Northern Malaria Free SafariSAFARI HIGHLIGHTS:A six day safari to the Malaria free "Big Five" game reserves in the Northern regions of South Africa, all located within a few hours drive of Johannesburg. These two reserves come by the names of Madikwe Game Reserve and Welgevonden Game Reserve, both offer superb lodges, wildlife viewing and their biggest selling point being the fact that they are both Malaria Free. Safari rates are in South African Rands *Rates may vary according to season CONTACT US FOR A FREE QUOTATION Flights (return); UK - RSA; from £ 515 USA - RSA; from $ 1200 EUR - RSA; from € 653 Subject to availability & T&C's Days 1-3: Madikwe Game Reserve » On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, pick up your rental car and self drive to the Madikwe Game Reserve. » Estimated traveling time from Johannesburg: ± 4 hours (traveling at speed limits, no sight seeing). » Arrive at your chosen lodge and should time allow depart on a late afternoon game drive. » The next few days are spent viewing, photographing and experiencing the wonders of the Madikwe Game Reserve. » Optional spa treatments if available at chosen lodge. » Madikwe Game Reserve is situated in the North West Province and is bordered by Botswana in the north, the Dwarsberg Mountains to the south, and the Marico river to the east. » Today some 12,000 animals live in the Madikwe Game Reserve. » All predator species are represented and also black and white rhino, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and a great number of antelopes. » More than 350 bird species have been registered. Accommodation suggestions. » Malaria Free Game Lodges Days 4-5: Welgevonden Private Game Reserve » After your breakfast, depart for the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve in the Waterberg Mountains. » Estimated traveling time from Madikwe Game Reserve: ± 4 to 5 hours (traveling at a leisurely pace). » Check into your chosen lodge and should time allow depart on a late afternoon game drive. » The next few days are spent viewing, photographing and experiencing the wonders of the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve. » The 75 mammal species include big game such as elephant, lion, white and black rhino, hippo, leopard and buffalo. » African python and the Nile crocodile are also resident, and it is a birdwatchers' paradise with more than 300 bird species. » Game viewing in open vehicles affords guests the opportunity of viewing fauna and flora, whilst traversing the undulating hills, following river courses and open savannah plains.
