DAY 1: YACHT TRANSFER TO CAPE MACLEAR
» From Lilongwe, road transfer to Senga Bay
» The yacht will be anchored in a sheltered bay at Senga Bay awaiting guests arrival
» Set sail across to Cape Maclear ( 3 hour sail)
» Arrive at Danforth Yachting luxury lodge
» Dinner and overnight at Danforth Yachting Lodge in comfortable, lake facing en-suite room
DAY 2: DANFORTH YACHTING LODGE
» At Danforth Yachting, Cape Maclear
» A day of watersports, sailing, skiing, diving, snorkeling etc
» Explore the islands around Cape Maclear or simply rest and relax!
» Overnight at Danforth Lodge
DAY 3: CHIOFU BAY
» Sailing Safari begins!
» Load up the yacht and set sail to Chiofu Bay on the Eastern shores of Lake Malawi
» Beautiful, remote, sheltered bay
» A great anchorage
» Good fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving
» Go on shore to watch the sunset followed by a beach barbeque under the African stars
» Overnight on "Mufasa" at anchor in the bay
DAY 4: PALMEIROS
» Morning spent enjoying the bay
» Take a nature walk before breakfast
» Superb views out over the lake
» Snorkel, fish, swim, relax
» Late morning, up anchor and set sail north
» Sail to Palmeiros (+- 10 hours sail) lunch on route
» Lush palm trees and different vegetation
» Dinner and overnight at anchor on board Mufasa
DAY 5: LIKOMA ISLAND
» Set sail early and arrive at Likoma Island
» Go on shore for a walk around the cobbled market square and take a tour of the magnificent St. Pauls cathedral
» Stop in at Kaya Mawa lodge for a drink and a look around
» Dinner and overnight on board Mufasa in a sheltered bay
DAY 6: CHISIMULU ISLAND
» Enjoy the diversity of Likoma Island
» Go diving, swim, snorkel
» Sail around the island and pop in at Mango drift
» Sail across to Chisimulu Island
» Sundowners on the beach
» Dinner and overnight on board the yacht Mufasa
DAY 7: MAKUZI BEACH LODGE
» Sail across to the mainland
» Arrive at Makuzi Beach Lodge in the shelter of Bandawe point, just south of Chinteche
» Beautiful bay, clean white beaches, super beach-side lodge
» Guests check into Makuzi Beach lodge for dinner, bed and breakfast
DAY 8: CHELINDA LODGE
» After breakfast, road transfer to Chinteche landing strip (+- 15 minutes)
» Charter flight to Nyika
» On arrival at Chelinda Airstrip you will be met by a uyaphi.com representative and driven 5 km to Chelinda Lodge
» The lodge sleeps sixteen guests in eight log cabins with panoramic views over the rolling grasslands of the Nyika plateau and this is where you will spend the first 2 nights of your safari
DAY 9: CHELINDA LODGE
» This first day will allow you to get acquainted with the horses and allow us to match the correct horse with each rider before we head off into the wild, remote areas of the Nyika wilderness
» Exploring the local area around Chelinda will provide a wonderful opportunity to ride alongside herds of wildlife including eland, reedbuck, roan antelope and zebra as well as the chance for you to put your horses through its paces
DAYS 10,11: NORTH RUMPHI TENTED CAMP
» Today you will head off over the grassland to our tented camp nestled next to the North Rumphi River with magnificent views towards Nganda Mountain, the highest of the Nyika (2600 m)
» Our camp has been moved ahead by vehicle and is ready for our arrival after several hours in the saddle
» The tea will be on the table and hot showers waiting - or a refreshing swim in the river!
» From this camp we can ride to the top of Nganda Mountain to enjoy the spectacular panorama across Lake Malawi to the hills of Tanzania, more than 60 miles away
DAYS 12,13: NORTH RUKURU TENTED CAMP
» We cross the plateau to find the tented camp close to the dramatic western escarpment that drops 2000 feet to the villages below
» The North Rukuru River is a great place for trout fishing so with luck trout will be on the menu!
» From this camp we can ride down to the Chisanga waterfalls that drop in spectacular fashion off the edge of the plateau and on our return have long canters along the escarpment edge
DAY 14: CHELINDA LODGE
» The ride back to Chelinda Lodge is another long day with some steep terrain to negotiate but as we climb back onto the high plateau the country opens up and the horses will be keen to get home
» The last day at Chelinda can be spent riding, walking, or trout fishing and is a good time to partake in a night drive with a chance to find hyena and leopard with a powerful spotlight
DAY 15: CHARTER FLIGHT TO LILONGWE
» After breakfast take a charter flight from Nyika to Lilongwe
